The Poitou Donkey or "Baudet du Poitou" is a French breed of donkey valued for the production of mules. Standing 14-15 hands with characteristic long hair that often hangs in cords, Poitou are unique in appearance and character.

These donkeys are considered critically endangered. Our team at Blue Wood Farm & Vineyard is pleased to be working closely with The Livestock Conservancy  on various projects to promote the continued expansion of Poitou donkeys here in the United States and abroad.
